Robert Nickson (The Netherlands)

Robert's background is a multi-national affair, father from England, mother from Norway, born in England and now living in Holland. But it's Holland that has given him his musical influences. Holland is renowned for its Dance Music scene. His first production with Dave Masters "Masters & Nickson - 5th Dimension" was first picked up by Dutch legend Armin van Buuren who subsequently gave the listening world their first taste of Robert when he played "5th Dimension" on his weekly ID&T radio show, "A State of Trance" Armin loved the tune so much that he signed it as one of the first records to his Armada Music label. Receiving massive support from djs such as Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten and Dave Pearce, it was also featured on many compilations such as Godskitchen Worldwide.

Robert's work has not gone unnoticed by those at the top. There's no better sign of how well things are going than getting the support of artists such as Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Markus Schulz, Judge Jules, Above & Beyond and countless others who continue to support the work that he does.

Robert’s gig list has grown quicker than anything he had ever dreamed of and his air miles balance certainly looks healthy now. Robert has visited countries from afar rocking the dance floors of London to Los Angeles, Sydney to San Francisco and all over Europe. His DJ style is the same as his productions, giving audiences beautiful no nonsense trance. Robert’s energy behind the turntables is electric and you can be sure that wherever he spins, the masses will not be standing still. His monthly radio shows on DI.FM have been listened to by thousands and gaining more every month.

In 2007 Robert first released a track under his new guise "Nick Robertson", called "Identity Crisis". With a harder edge, this has received massive support from the likes of John O'Callaghan and Radio 1 support from Eddie Halliwell. Returning to the true trance sound he released a three track EP called "Motion Blur", which has now been signed to an almost frightening number of compilations. Some of the DJ'ing highlights of the year included the massive San Francisco Love Fest, Oxygen in New Zealand and Digital Society in Leeds.

2008 has started of well with a remix for Deep Voices on Combined Forces, which has been a favourite with many DJ's. Experimenting with a different sound he released "Narc" on Pilot6 Recordings with a Simon & Shaker Remix, which has received support from the likes of Tiesto and Ferry Corsten. Released in May is his latest single, called "Never Again". It has been tested and approved by all the big names and has recieved great reviews. Also just released is a re-release of "5th Dimension", with an impressive Daniel Kandi Remix.
Currently Robert is working on more tracks and remixes, including a new "True Form" track and a soon to be released collaboration with Daniel Kandi.

"When you die and go to trance heaven, this is what they'll be playing in the arrivals lounge" - Mixmag review of Spiral.
